No-Cook Play Dough in a rainbow of color choices

I love activities I get to do with my kids, but sometimes a momma needs something a little bit hands-off. On those days, I need to be able to set them up and then get some things done around the house. This no-cook play dough recipe fits that bill perfectly!

Play Dough Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 2 Tbsp oil
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 2-4 Tbsp dry jello powder
  • 1 cup hot water

Instructions

This truly couldn’t be any easier! Most other play dough recipes require cooking on the stove top, but this one is completely kid-friendly and heat-free so you can employ their mixing skills to help (after all, making it is half the fun)!

You can choose any jello flavoring to add, but we love anything that appears to have a really vibrant hue. When it is mixed with the other ingredients it is more muted and a perfectly subtle shade. The more jello you add, the richer the color and the stronger the scent will be.

All you have to do is combine the ingredients and stir until a ball forms. Yes, it really is that easy! If you need, you can adjust the consistency by adding more flour or water. Continue to knead with your hands until the dough is no longer sticky.

When play time is over, simply store the play dough in an airtight container to save and use again another day!

What are you go-to, tried and true activities that entertain your kids when you need to get things done? I would love to put them on my own list!
