I’m definitely not a professional designer, but I do enjoy decorating my house and making it feel like a home. Above all else, each room has to be practical, kid-friendly and budget-conscious.
With our recent move to North Carolina, I’m focusing on one room at a time and finishing it top to bottom. My shared boy’s room was the first on my list and I love how it all came together!
This room didn’t need much work. But it was a dark blue and I wanted to lighten the space up, so I painted it Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige at 50% (so just a lighter version of the color because they mix 50% Accessible Beige with the white base color).
I tend to prefer natural color tones, but also added some green to the black and white scheme of this room. The boys have been loving this space. They enjoy having their own beds, and how easy it is to make them each morning (thank you Beddy’s!).
They shoot hoops several times a day using the wall hoop we DIY’d and because there is nothing breakable in this room, I don’t worry about the flying basketballs.
The full-wall windows in their room might be my favorite feature. But to make sure all that light doesn’t wake them up too early in the morning, we used four panels of blackout curtains to cover the entire wall.
For some functional decor, I used some expandable coat racks to display their baseball hats.
I loved the coat racks so much I put another one in their closet for ties and bow ties. These cute little boys ties are all from Johnny and Tate.
We LOVE our Beddy’s bedspreads. They’re amazing quality, very comfortable, stylish, simple to make (they just zip up on the sides), and easy to wash. And if you have bunkbeds, these comforters are a MUST.

I’ve got a slightly different color scheme going in my boys’ room, but I’ve been looking for quilts like these green ones. Did I miss the source? Are they also Beddy’s?
Excited that I found your blog and I look forward to poking around.
