With our recent move to North Carolina, we were so excited to have a bonus space to use as a dedicated play room for the kids. Our previous house didn’t have a space for toys so they had to be stuffed into closets throughout the house. Our new loft space is awesome, but also an interesting layout so I’ve been trying to figure out how to set things up in there.
After giving a tour on Instagram, many of your suggested creating several different defined spaces and I love that idea! I tend to stick to neutral colors in my house, but the play room feels like a place where I can play with color and make it fun.
When I saw Drew Barrymore’s Flower Kids line at Walmart, I knew it was the perfect inspiration for my play room! There are so many darling, fun pieces in the collection.
Here are the pieces I bought that I’m loving in our space:
When I first saw the Flower Kids line, this cottage house bed stopped me in my tracks. It’s such a fun addition to any kids or play room. There are so many possibilities for styling it. My kids have already had the best time using it as a school, house for their stuffed animals, doctors office, tea room, etc.
Justin is a major map lover, so I knew he’d be totally on board with this animal world map. I love the cute and colorful illustrations and different animal placed throughout the world.
My kids love playing make believe and having tea parties and little picnics in our play room. When I saw these I Heart You Cups, I Heart You Plates, and I Heart You Lidded Tumblers, I knew they’d be perfect for this space. They’re durable, dishwasher safe, and the perfect size.
I’m so excited to have our play room design kicked off! There are so many other great pieces from the Drew Barrymore Flower Kids Collection. Check out my favorites below.

This house frame is showing as $299. I could have sworn when you posted about this it was much less. Do you remember what it was?
$299 is the correct price – that’s what I paid for it. It’s a little pricey for a play house, but it super durable and great quality. Ours is holding up really well and my kids are pretty rough with it!
