I can’t believe I haven’t shared this grilled chicken marinade recipe with you yet! I use it all the time when cooking for my family. It truly is the best marinade that you can use on any type of chicken (tenders, chicken breast, wings, thighs, etc. Plus, the recipe comes together so quickly, and it’s neutral enough that you can pair it with any side dish: rice, pasta, veggies—whatever!
This grilled chicken marinade uses the juice of one lemon and lime. Since citrus can change the texture of meat if left on too long, you don’t want to leave the meat marinating overnight. Instead, I usually pop it in the fridge in the morning and and grill it up that night. But you can make it up as little as an hour ahead of time and still enjoy juicy, tender meat.
In a large bowl, whisk together all marinade ingredients. Place chicken in the mixture and let marinade for 1-8 hours. (Do not marinate overnight, as the citrus can change the texture of the chicken if left too long.)
Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Next, grill chicken for about until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees, flipping once.
Chicken breasts take about 7 minutes per side, chicken thighs take about 5 minutes per side, and chicken tenders take about 3-4 minutes per side.
Then let rest for 5 minutes before slicing. I know your whole family will love this versatile grilled chicken marinade!
