The inspiration for this bedroom for my 7-year-old daughter, Paisley, began with this wool rug from Target. I loved the colors, pattern and texture, and based the rest of my design off it.
I've never installed wallpaper before, but I love the way it can transform a room. I knew I didn't want to wallpaper the whole room, so we installed a white board and batten on the bottom 2/3 of the room and put wallpaper on the top 1/3. We used the color "Gallery White" by Behr for the board and batten. I always choose an eggshell finish so that it's easy to clean but not super shiny (don't ever go with matte - it shows every single fingerprint).
Since I wasn't sold on the prospect of permanent wallpaper, I went with removable wallpaper from Loomwell. I chose the Diane pattern and am so excited about how it turned out! The wallpaper was very simple to install since it's removable. I could start to lay it on the wall, then peel off and adjust as needed. It can also be removed after a couple years with no damage to the wall. So, if you're in a rental but want to make a space your own, removable wallpaper is a great option.

We already had the queen-size bed frame that my boys had shared in our previous house. We also had the dresser and nightstand that were pieces I had previously thrifted and refinished. The only new piece of furniture I purchased for the room was the corner chair.
Even though closets can be an afterthought, I always try to put a little TLC into the closets when I'm decorating a bedroom. The closet in this room is pretty large, so it has several purposes. We hang clothes in here (I love using kids wooden hangers), store extra linens for the house (these wire baskets worked great to organize them), dolls and a few toys (in these rope baskets), and some extra blankets.
This bedroom doubles as a guest room when we have visitors so I wanted it to feel comfortable and inviting. It turned out beautifully and will be a room that we'll enjoy for years to come.
